When a particulary vicious defense lawyer, played by Pat Corley in one of his more memorably slobbering turns, attacks Patti's credibility in court, the disturbed victim commits suicide. Without spoiling the ending, I will say that I liked how the story illustrates how even those on the right side of a war can behave callously, even when they should be at their most gracious. There is also a page in the book that answered a big question that comes up at the end of the story. She does visit Patti, though, who does not remember the rape completely. Keep track of everything you watch; tell your friends. But then comes the deluge, including a nasty conspiracy by the Dunne family to make Anna look sleazy and unreliable, the return of an old boyfriend to first seduce and then betray Anna, and the further courtroom antics of the seemingly psychotic defense lawyer. In the end, Kevin comes to the rescue, finally giving a testimony. This is a good story for anyone who has been through a similar event but do not watch if you are sensitive to the subject of rape. As other reviewers have mentioned, there's some great acting in here from Valerie B., but, what seems to be unnoticed is the likewise great acting from Melissa Leo in her role as Patty (who was the rape victim).
